Bride
Novel counterpart: Lucia Mondella
Ability
Each night, learn how many of your living neighbours are poisoned. Each dawn, if the Groom is alive, you become sober and healthy, even if drunk or poisoned.
Il Signore m’ha voluto lasciare ancora quaggiù.
The Bride monitors the disease immediately around them. While the Groom lives, every dawn restores them to a sober and healthy state, but this does not prevent them from falling ill during the night.
How to Run
Each night, wake the Bride.
Determine how many of their living neighbours currently count as poisoned for their ability and show them that number.
Then put the Bride to sleep.
After all night abilities have resolved, at dawn, if the Groom is alive, make the Bride sober and healthy, even if they are drunk or poisoned.
This cleansing happens at dawn, not when the Bride receives their nightly information.
Examples
Both of the Bride's living neighbours are healthy. The Bride learns 0.
One neighbour is poisoned and the other is healthy. The Bride learns 1.
Both living neighbours are poisoned. The Bride learns 2.
An evil neighbour is not actually poisoned but registers as poisoned because of the Plague. The Bride's information may count that neighbour as poisoned.
The Plague poisons the Bride before they wake. The Bride may receive false information that night. At dawn, if the Groom is still alive, the Bride becomes healthy again.
The Doctor cures the Bride before the Bride's night action. The Bride is healthy when they wake and receives information normally, assuming nothing else is interfering with their ability.
At the end of the first night, the Landsknecht poisons the Bride. The Bride becomes poisoned normally, and the Plague learns their character. Once all night abilities have resolved, the Bride becomes sober and healthy at dawn if the Groom is alive.
The Groom dies during the night. At dawn, the Bride does not receive the automatic sober-and-healthy restoration because the Groom is no longer alive.
Rules & Clarifications
- The Bride counts only living neighbours.
- Dead neighbours are not counted as poisoned for this ability.
- The Bride's neighbour relationships follow the current game topology.
- Evil players may register as poisoned while the Plague has its ability, and this may affect the Bride's information.
- The Spreader may also register as poisoned.
- The Bride's recovery happens at dawn, after all night abilities have resolved.
- Becoming drunk or poisoned after the Bride's nightly information but before dawn still affects the Bride normally until the dawn recovery occurs.
- Therefore, a poisoned Bride may receive false information during the night and still become healthy at dawn.
- The Groom only needs to be alive at dawn. The current wording does not require the Groom to be sober or healthy.
- The Bride does not become immune to death while the Groom is alive.
- If the Groom is dead at dawn, the Bride does not automatically become sober or healthy.
- If the Bride becomes drunk or poisoned again after being restored at dawn, the new condition applies normally until a later effect removes it.
